First full day in PP

Our modern life is awe-inspiring. One day we are in the middle of Grand Central Station from CT and three days later sitting by a reflecting pool at our hotel in Phnom Penh after a lively dinner via "tuk tuk" weaving past small shops with whole families living their lives as customers buy the few items they have for sale! It made me think of our Old Mystic General Store and how the owner's son had a play area and then a school desk in a corner of the store! That was unusual and really touched me as I know Brian better as I saw more of his life than any other children in the neighborhood. Here in PP the whole family lives in the open right next door to the next business and their family! The communal aspect has me thinking about how this both knits the family, street and town together. We met our host here in Phnom Penh, Michael Hayes, after a relaxing massage and rest after the two day journey and then the wild streets congested with millions of motorcycles all moving in what at first seems like random patterns headed for crashes! But much like the phenomena that occurs with the people movements in Grand Central Station, there is a flow that works. I had to relax my clenching jaw, trust our school educated english speaking driver and find my "happy place"! So Michael has been in Asia for over 22 years but more of that later. Kim & Eric from White Mountain AK have arrived and we are off to The Killing Fields' Museum ! ~A
